  • Sour Cream Donut Tweeks for me

I bought the donut maker to provide a healthier treat for my donut crazed toddler. I substited half of the AP flour with whole wheat pastry flour, used vanille yogurt in place of the sour cream, and dusted with a little powdered sugar. I cooked them for 3 to 3:30 minutes. The donuts were light and fluffy with a crunchy/chewy exterior. The toddler had 3 in one sitting and the baby enjoyed them as well. My only issue is that they lacked the punch of flavor I was loking for. Will try adding more vanilla or maybe some crushed fruit and/or honey next time.
I hope they freeze welll. Hope to make large batches to freeze and use for quick snacks and to make “sweet” sandwiches with them. Will let you know if the do!

  • Powdered Non-Dairy Whipped Topping

Can anyone suggest a substitution for powdered non-dairy whipped topping mix? I am hoping to make the coconut cake pops for a mother’s day spa party, but I have never heard of this product, and don’t think it would be easy to find in Canada. Any info would be great.

  • Icing Help!!

I really need help with icing my cakepops, I can’t ice em evenly, they drip too much, etc. Any awesome tips out there?

  • ?

On the box for the Whoopie Pie Maker is a Chocolate Chip filled whoopie pie, but there is no recipe for that one in the booklet – how do I make these? Any suggestions? They are the ones I want to make the most!

  • 9 oz Cake Mix???

Some of the recipes in the Cake Pop maker called for 9 oz. cake mixes. We haven’t found that at any of our grocery stores. What brands is everyone using? Or do you use a regular mix, which is about twice as much, and double everything else? Thanks!

  • dounut recipies…

does anyone have a vanilla (regular) dounut recipie? I just got a dounut maker for my birthday, and I used a vanilla box mix today and they tured out great! We don’t really eat cocolate, so is there ant plain dounut recipies? appreciate it!

  • donut maker idea!

So we bought the donut maker baby cakes set and we did not have any of the correct ingredients so what we did was use a brownie mix set! After they were done cooking we rolled it in powdered sugar and they were amazing! (kind of tasted like chocolate crinkle cookies!!!)

  • Icing help???

I just purchased my babycakes cake pop yesterday and used it right when I got home! I used the vanilla cake pops recipe that was included and it turned out great! The cakes were moist and perfect! However, when I went to put on the icing it was a disaster. I used the “frosting dip” recipe that is in the instruction manual which might of had something to do with it, but it was a mess. I had trouble getting the cakes to stay on the sticks, but after reading some other tips I’ve discovered ways to help. But does anyone have any suggestions of how you don’t get the chocolate to drip all down the sticks??? I tried holding them over the bowl for awhile to let it all drip off, but even then it was still dripping everywhere. I plan on making these for a Mothers Day lunch so any suggestions on how to make the icing not drip down and get everywhere would be awesome!! Thanks!

  • Donut Maker question,

You have any donut recipes for the donut maker? can i use any donut recipe off the web. I don’t have anymore babycakes donut mix…

  • for easier cavity filling

I’ve found that loading the batter into a spring loaded pump frosting gun made it much easier to get the right portion into the baking cavities at a quicker pace. This was veyr helpful because, prior to this, I was having a probably with over filling.

  • Mrs.

I just made chocolate “brownie” donuts with our Donut Maker using our family’s favorite mix, Ghirardelli Triple Chocolate, and “voila” donut perfection.

Then sprinkled a little white icing sugar for decoration.

    Huge hit.

  • glazing cake pops

  • how much mix do you put in the babycake maker?

i am wondering how much mix you have to put in the maker?

  • Cooking Time

When I was making my first batch of cake pops, I noticed that they weren’t cooking all the way through, so when I set a timer the second time I added 30 seconds. It was a lot better!!!! I think they were the french breakfast puffs. After they were rolled in sugar, they were DEEEELISHIOUS!!!!

  • question for cleaning my cupcake maker

I recently made mini pies in my cupcake maker following the recipe. The problem is where the filling leaked out, I cannot get it clean. The best I could do was to gently scrub with a toothbrush and soap while the unit was hot. Any better suggestions? Placing a wet towel inside to steam it did not work. I wish the plates came out for cleaning.

  • cake pop not round

  • Terry

I am gonna try to make hushpuppies in my cake pop. I have been looking for a low fat way to make them. Also, had an idea of making pretzels.

  • Tip – Baker’s Joy & amount

I got my babycake cake pop maker yesterday. I’ve made the Apple Cider Donut Holes, chocolate pops and white pops.

Must use Baker’s Joy or similar product and fill just to below the top. Come out perfect everytime.

I cooked about 5 minutes too.

  • Dogs love doughnuts!

My puppies ate up every doughnut that fell on the floor. God bless them.

  • FIRST TRY success!

After reading tips listed, here’s what worked great for us!

Used a box of white Betty Crocker cake mix, one package of instant vanilla pudding, substituted 1 and 1/3 cups milk for the water, and added 3 eggs per box instruction.

Transfered mixed batter into a plastic bag and snipped a corner.
WE DID NOT PRE-HEAT THE CAKE POP MAKER
Plugged in the maker as we filled the lightly-oiled sprayed reservoir mostly full of the mixture. Cooked for about 4 minutes (maybe a little shorter). When the timer was up, we unplugged the cake pop maker and carefully got it out with the two pronged fork and placed them in the cake pop stand. We transfered the stand into the freezer and cooled the machine 5 minutes before loading again!

ALSO, we had the sticks in the freezer before starting and that also worked great!

We hope these tips work for you!

  • need help….

Can babycakes cake pop maker make the cake balls with the icing mixed in it??? My next door neighbor made cake balls for me and she made them the original way, baking the cake then crumbling it, mixing it with icing. They were so good and moist. Any advice?

  • Mixing the doughnut batter in the zip-top bag

For a faster cleaner way to make the batter is to mix the dry ingredients in the zip top bag and add the liquid ( beaten egg and other liquids mixed in a liquid measuring cup) and mix directly in the bag and then follow the directions in the doughnut make hints and suggestion.

  • Mrs.

Used my cake pop maker for the first time last night. Worked great! Used chocolate chip muffin mix and mixed according to directions. Filled holes with batter (almost full) after spraying with Bakers Joy baking spray before plugging machine in. Once plugged in, I unplugged after it started steaming as suggested by some others. Cooked first batch 4 minutes total. Second batch cooked 3 1/2 minutes. Muffin mix packet made 2 batches.

The trick is defintely unplugging once it starts steaming!

  • Use the recipes

My only tip that I can say about this device is to use all the recipes in the babycakes cookbook that comes along with it. I used their recipes and was still not happy with the results. When I opened it they were perfectly round. When I removed the balls as they begin to cool they wasn’t round anymore. I could deal with this..but the hardest part was actually putting the stick in the ball and making it stay. I tried every way to do this. Finally after you dip your stick in the candy melts and stick in the ball, stick it in the freezer for about 10 mins. It holds better but is still slack and just not doable.

My advice is to just make your cake pops by balling up the cake dough with your hand. This device is not good for cake pops, but the mini cupcake I loved.

  • Messy

How do I get the batter into the cakepop machine quickly and without making a mess! I tried a funnel and the icing bags. The batter was too thick for the funnel and it was impossible to get the batter into the icing bag without making a mess. I was making the brownie cakepops so the batter was thick. As you can tell, I do not bake often:) Help!

  • St. Paddy’s Day treat

Happy St. Paddy’s Day! I’ve got a splendid and tasty treat that will make any St. Paddy’s Day festivity one to remember. I was thinking of dying my vanilla cake pops green but then I was reminded by my assistant chef that I might change the outcome of thier taste. So I came up with the idea to replace the red food coloring in red velvet cupcakes with green food coloring. PERFECT! They tasted superb as always and looked even better! So if you are looking for an Irish way to enlighten a party, maybe make some GREEN velvet cupcakes!

  • My baby cake pops aren’t round at all

hi!, i just got the baby cake pop maker yesterday, and i used chocolate cake mix to make my first batch of cake pops, but they weren’t round at all, the top part was more like a spike, i thought maybe i open it to soon and it flatten down… but then i try to do it again and i had the same result. both times i waiter 6 mins.
then i turn it off… put the batter in all the holes and then turn it on… for 5 mins. then turn it off and i let it sit for about 3 mins… it turned out better but still not very round…
    -am i doing something wrong?
-should i use a different cake mix?
-do i really have to turn it off and on for every batch i want to do?…

    thank you!

  • bisquick question

Has anyone tried to make any of the bisquick impossible pie recipes in there cupcake baker? Did they turn out. thanks

  • Dip Warmer – QUESTION

I bought the babycakes dip warmer from Kohls thinking I wouldn’t have to microwave frosting as often while dipping cake pops (I wanted to avoid thickening, breakdown, or discoloration of frosting from too many reheats). But the warmer takes a really long time to heat up and it doesn’t really get hot enough to keep the frosting thin enough for dipping. However it does slow down cooling (I get more dips out of it before I have to reheat) I guess it could be defective – does anyone have experience with this? What I really want to know is if the removable ceramic pot inside the warmer is microwaveable.? I wasn’t sure on this last round so I kept scraping frosting out into a pyrex measuring cup before reheating (which was a bit time-consuming and kind of defeats the purpose of using the warmer in the first place). Unfortunately I don’t have my instruction booklet and this product is not listed under products or accessories on this website. Thanks in advance for your help.

  • What I learned

Today I tried my Babycakes maker for the first time. Through trial and error I found the following to work best for me:
    -do not preheat the maker
    -bake for 5 minutes
    -unplug between batches
-chill the Babycakes before dipping into melted chocolate
-dip the sticks 1/2 to 1 inch in melted chocolate . THEN chill the stick for approx. 1 minute to get the chocolate to set, then insert into chilled Babycake
-add shortening to melted chocolate for coating the Babycake

    Love this maker!

  • Help, I don’t quite understand….

I have this baby cake cake pop maker and I was going to use it right now but I don’t quite understand. I thought a cake pop was the cake ball rolled in frosting and dipped in chocolate, but with this machine do I just make the cake balls and dip them in chocolate? Or do I dip them in frosting first or roll them? I am using a cake pop box cake mix…

  • Help?

I have the baby cakes brand cake pop mix, but I don’t have the box saying what ingredients to add to it! Can anyone help me out?

  • Mrs.

Please Help ! We just used our Whoopie Pie Maker for the first time & ended up with silver dollar pancakes. It seems as if the deep side & the shallow side should be reversed. What is the secret to making whoopie pies??? Tips PLEASE!!!!

  • Red Velvet Cake Pops

For what it’s worth, I bought the babycakes brand red velvet cupcake mix from Kohl’s and used it for cake pops; they came out beautifully. I substituted buttermilk for the 1/2c milk that is added to the mix (just because every red velvet recipe I’ve ever read calls for buttermilk) and it turned out fine. If you use the cake mix for cake pops, you will get about 2.5 dozen (30 cake pops). I sure wish you could search this section of the website by subject though; I searched every month for an easy red velvet recipe before I caved in and bought the babycakes mix (it was pricey even at Kohl’s for 10.99 before my coupon). I know there is a red velvet scratch recipe in the book that came with my machine but I don’t have time for scratch this time…

  • Clean up

  • Use your cake pop maker for other foods!

Just used my cake pop maker to make salmon balls and mini crab cakes. Works great for dipping in tartar sauce. No forks required!!

  • mrs.

when trying to keep stick in cake ball. dip a little of the ball about a dime size into the melted choc. coating and in the center of this insert your pop stick that has been dipped about 1/2 inch into the melt. Let this get very very cold 1-2 hours in the refrigerator or 10-15 minutes in the freezer. Then remove only a few at a time and holding the stick dip the complete ball up to the stick into the melt and do not let the ball “hang down” as the heat from the new melt will loosen the stick. Hold at a 45 degree or 90 degree angele over the pot twirling(slowly) the stick to let extra drip off. If the Melt is warm but still to thick to easily drip off, then add to 1 pkg. of the Melts, 1 tsp. of a product called Paramount Crystals and if you can’t find it in a cake supply store, resort to using a shortening product–never oil, oleo, or butter, but a solid shortening like a crisco.Stand sticks upright in a piece of Styrofoam and they will harden in 15 minutes or less Either sprinkle “sprinkles” on the wet melt or let harden and then coat with a brush some piping gel on the ball and then sprinkle with the “sprinkles”.

  • QUESTION About Cupcake AND Cakepop Maker

This more of questions, not so much of a tip. I’ve been looking at these makers and wanted to make either mini cupcakes or cake pops for my sons 1st birthday. My questions are:

    1. Which one seems to be a better buy, cupcake maker or cake pop maker?

    2. Has anyone tried to put the mini cupcakes on the cake pop sticks? Did it work?

Hopefully, some of you can help me answer these questions, so I can determine which product(s) to buy. Thanks!!

  • Epic Fail

I used my cake pop maker today and it was an epic fail! I used Duncan Hines red velvet cake mix. I did not get round balls at all. They were just half circles. It also made a huge mess! Do I need to use the recipes that are in the instruction book or does box cake mix work? Please help! I am trying to make these for favors for a baby shower.

  • mrs

This is the best machine ever! Basic recipe boxed cake mix 1 cup milk 1 teaspoon vanilla and 3 eggs. Stir together with spoon. Spoon 1 teapoon+ in each hole. Don’t overfill. Bake 5 minutes. Cool in freezer for 10 minutes. Melt bark in microwave for 1 minute. Dip your ball into bark using a toothpick. Place on foam (covered with wax paper to avoid mess). Top with sprinkles if desired. If using a stick dip the end of it in the bark then in cupcake to make it hold better. Then dip cupcake. Love this machine!

  • did you know…

  • Low Fat cake pop recipe

I just made a “lower fat” cake pop recipe using Duncan Hines cake box batter (Moist Deluxe French Vanilla flavor). There is a low fat recipe in small type at the bottom of the box which I used and altered slightly. It calls for 1 cup water, 1/3 cup unsweetened applesauce & 3 eggs…I used 1/2 cup soy milk, 3 eggs & 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce. Baked for 3-4 mins and they came out perfectly!!

  • FAIL!

My first experience with the cake pop maker was a big FAIL! I wanted to make the French Breakfast Puffs recipe that comes in the manual. The recipe made no sense to me at all! It says to add vanilla and eggs but in the listing of ingredients vanilla is not listed at all and it only says one egg. The batter was way to tick and tasted gross! My kids tried them and said, “Are they supposed to taste like that?!?!” They weren’t “puffy” at all, but rather dense and tasted only like flour. YUCK! We only made the first batch and threw the rest in the trash.

  • Cake Pop Sticks

Hey! Just bought a cake pop maker and used it for the first time this weekend. But had a hard time with the sticks comming out of the cake ball when covering them. Should I freeze them longer, or what! Thanks for the help!

  • Help with frosting!

I used my cakepop maker for the first time this weekend and LOVED it! I used a mix that was for 12 cupcakes and got about 40 cakeballs.

The problem I had was with the frosting. It was too thick to dip the balls in. I used a Wilton melter and wilton candy melts. I even added extra butter to try and thin it out with no luck.

Does anyone have any good frosting (chocolate, vanilla) receipes to share that are dippable?

    Thanks,
    Kami

  • How To Fill Cake Pops

Having trouble filling the pops? It takes a few items and some patience.

    Items:
Cooked and Cooled Cake Pops (undecorated and preferably without the stick)
Wilton brand Bismarck tip No. 230 (looks like a really tall party hat, can be found at specialty shops)
Decorating Bags (uncut, disposable works well)
Filling of choice (ideas: jams, peanut butter, Nutella, frosting)

    How To

Setting up the bag: Put the tip small side down into the bag. Cut off the tip of the bag so the small end sticks out of the bag, but so that pressure will not push the tip out. Fold the top of the bag outwards, then fill bag with your filling of choice.

Filling the Pops: Insert the tip into the Cake Pop and gently squeeze the bag (from the top down!) until the Cake Pop starts to bulge slightly. Gently pull the tip out. (You may squeeze gently as you pull the tip out, if you like) If decorating further, remove any excess filling from the outside of the pop and decorate as usual.

  • can you use one side of the cake pops

i wanted to know if we could just use one side of the cake pop tray? would it still be a ball?

  • Mrs. Walters

I know that there are problems with the bottoms cooking faster.

First I turn on the donut maker then gather equipment and mix batter. This helps to have it nice and hot. Then II use “Dessert Decorator-Wilton” I use the round tip and fill the decorator with the donut batter. Im sure any frosting bag type thing will work. This help to make batter in the pan more even and gets the batter in there faster. Spray the pan with non stick spray. It may not be perfectly even looking, but is a BIG difference the trying to fill donut containers and having batter cook uneven. Hope this helps.

  • Question – Rolled DOughnut Recipe

I have a family doughnut recipe that makes a rather still dough that needs to be rolled out then fried. Do you think this would work in the doughnut maker? The dough isn’t thin enough to spook into the maker….

  • Bourbon Brownie Pops

I just made bourbon brownie pops with great results. I used a Duncan Hines mix (cakelike brownies), substituting bourbon in for the water. The pops were perfectly round and delicious. I did not add nuts, since some people don’t like them, but I did put a pecan half on some of the pops after dipping them in dark chocolate. Yummy!

  • Cake Ball Questions

    Hi all,
I am new to the cake pop world. I treated myself to a babycakes maker for Christmas, and am going to make my first batch tonight, but I have a few questions:

    1. What is the best way to store cakepops?
    2. How long can they be stored?
    3. I plan on making cake balls, not just cake pops, are there any tips for making just cake balls?

Any tips and suggestions would be greatly appreciated- and thanks for taking the time to help me.
    Have a wonderful day:)

  • Gooey Butter Cake Pops?

  • Icing Ideas

I don’t have a tip, I have a request. I melted vanilla chip in a double boiler and it was terribly thick, so I ended up adding about a quarter cup or oil and still it was way too thick. What am I doing wrong. I ended up using vanilla icing in a can and adding a little of the chocolate to that. It was almost too thin. What a mess I had. Icing dripping all over. It did help when I put them back in the freezer to set them. Should I try using the microwave only to melt the candy chips? Help please

  • ms.

Can someone help me with Brownie batter, please! I didnt have any luck. I filled 1/2, 3/4, and to top. They were either to small, hard on bottom or not fully cooked. I also went from 4-6minutes. I would like to find a way to get them to come out right!

  • Chocalatier question

I bought the Chocalatier in order to dip our hand made cake balls. It seems to take a very long time to melt the “chocolate” bark (candy coating). Should I have tried a different coating? I’m concerned that my item may be defective as it just doesn’t seem to get warm enough to melt the bark. I even chopped the bark up fairly small in order to get it to melt quicker.

Does anyone have any suggestions that would help “thin” the bark or make it more user friendly?

    Thanks – and Merry Christmas.

  • Box Mix Tip

I’ve been using my cake pop maker every weekend for the last 3 – my first experience was excellent and my second not so much. I noticed that the mix I used the second time was a thinner consistancy then the first so I bought the original one again and I had excellent results.

I recommomend Pills over BC if you are using mixes. I have nothing against BC when it comes to cakes, etc but for the uses here Pills is a lot thicker and that makes it easier to get into the cups and puffs up a little bit slower so it doesnt give you spill out or staturn rings.

Also, after multiple uses you will need spray a little oil and no more stickys.

  • 2 questions for my New Years Celebration!

My husband bought my the cake pop maker for Christmas, and I cannot WAIT to use it for our New Years Celebration party (and before for practice!!) But I do have 2 questions:

    1. Can I use a boxed mix such as Jiffy, or should I stick with Pillsbury?
    2. Can I use jarred frosting (such as Pillsbury chocolate) and just melt it a little instead of candy melts?

  • Cheesecake

I just got the babycakes cupcake maker and I want to make mini cheesecakes. Does anyone have a recipe?

  • Help!

Did anyone else have really bad results with the cake pop maker? I tried using my new baby cake pops maker over the weekend. I tried making two different batches with horrible results. I used PAM to spray the maker, and the instructions warned that if they were not cooked long enough that they would separate so warned not to open too early. Because this was my first time, I used the baby cakes mix for the cake pops. The first round I left for four minutes, most of them over-spilled or pulled apart. It was a huge mess to clean up…So, next round, I cooked for longer, still pulled apart, or if not, the fork would not work to get it out of the maker – what is wrong. I had such a huge mess both times, that I am thinking best to just return it? I read and thought followed the instructions, and everyone else here seems to work fine? Thinking I wasted my money????

  • Question:

I just got my new cake pop maker for Christmas and by the way they are very deliciouse and my maker didnt come with anything like it is suppose to all it did come with was the maker itself and a lemon mix with glaze. We looked at your sight and saw what they are suppsed to come with like sticks the cooling rack and other things so i had to use toothpicks and cool them on a plate. So tell me what i can do. And i was also wanting to know since it only comes with one box of mix if i could use regular cake mix. Please get back to me . :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

  • Question about the Deluxe Babycakes maker

I just got a Deluxe Babycakes maker (where it has 12 regular-sized cupcake wells rather than the mini cupcakes) and the ’175 best babycakes recipes’ book to go with it. The only thing is that those recipes are for the mini cupcakes. Can I use the same recipes and just end up with larger cupcakes? I tried to compare the recipes that came with my babycakes maker to the ones in the book and a few were exactly the same and some were slightly different. I’m also worried about attempting the pies and savory recipes that are in the book. Any advice?? Thank you!

  • Help!!

I’ve tried this babycake maker several times and have only had two successes. I tried this dark chocolate resipe i got from video about babycakes online. I tried cooking that batch 4 times so far and got no babycakes to serve. All the ones i cooked were hallow in the middle and burent on the outside. Also another time i opened my baby cake maker and the tops of my babycakes were burent and the bottom was raw.It also was a pain to clean EVERYTIME!!! Cause the batter would get out of the little cups and spill out of the side. I dont know what i am doing wrong. please help me!!

  • Perfect companion

The perfect companion for the babycakes cake pop maker is “Small Batch Baking” by Debby Maugans Nakus. A recipe makes almost exactly the right amount for just 12 (one batch) of cake pops!! I just made the “old fashioned yellow cake” recipe and it was great with just a LITTLE left over. I will put in fridge or freezer adding to it after each time cooking till I think the amount is right for 12 pops!!

  • Advice on decorating while using melts?

It’s my first time using the cake pop maker and it works great but I’m having trouble figuring out how to decorate them after I did them in the melted chocolate. When I dip it I let some of the chocolate drip off and then sprinkle with the sugar decorations or pecans but they just seem to fall off or clump up…any advice to help?

  • 2T. too much

I have the donut maker. I added a heaping tablespoon of batter to the wells (directions were 2T.) and closed the lid. The batter immediately ran out of the machine and pooled on the counter. The next round I added a little less – more like 1T. and the results were much better.

  • Creative Creation

Originally we were making a recipe from the Baby Cakes recipe book but you know sometimes you can’t find the ingredients your looking for!So we came up with a creative way to make this recipe unique. This recipe was originally 2 cups white cake mix,2 eggs,3/4cups low fat cherry yogart, graded zest of 1 lime,1/4cups freshley squeezed lime juice,3tblsp veggie oil,3drops of red food coloring,1/4cups of finley chopped well drained maraschino cherries. But how we did it was very simple, fun ingredients to use.Of course you need the cake mix right? So we used Pillsbury funfetti cake mix and instead of cherry yogurt we used Yoplait rasberry yogurt which tastes great, and just use all the same measurements you see above and we can assure you that this recipe tastes great, your kids will love them!!!!!!!! :) Happy Baking!!!!!!!
    Ingredients & Instructins for Frosting
1/2 cup butter, softened 3cups confectioners sugar, 3 or 4tlbsp juice of the maraschino cherries,1/2 tsp almond extract. In medium bowl using eletric mixer on medium high speed, beat butter for 1 minute or until light and creamy.Gradually beat in confectioners sugar until well blended.Beat in 3tblsp cherry juice until light and fluffy. This recipe is also Baby Cakes recipe book we did not come up with frosting recipe!!!!!!

  • Help!

I got my best friend the cake pop maker for Christmas. We made red velvet cake pops with a Duncan Hines mix. They sort of burnt on the outside and were underdone on the inside. To top it all off, they never come out round. And we argue about how we are supposed to put the pops in the cooling pan. I don’t know if this is a teenage thing, but I need help! Calling all experts. -_-

  • Burning paper liners and cakes

I have only used the cupcake maker 4 times. The 3 out of 4 times I used a light colored cupcake liner (white/yellow), the cupcakes burned on the bottom and up around the sides, and the paper looked burnt also. Now I used foil liners for the other ones and turned out fine. I baked for the recommended time for each, so what was wrong. Should I just stick with the foil…I really don’t want to because foil doesn’t fit every theme. Anybody else experience this?

  • Frosting Vx. Melted Chocolate

I used my cake pop maker for the first time today. I appreciate this website for all the tips. First batch, I just melted neslte white chocolate chips. The outcome was less than desireable. I didn’t find the dip the stick in chocolate first tip till later, but the chocolate was too heavy, added shortening and it was better, but still only dipped the top half, because chocolate was dripping everywhere. Everyone liked them though.

Next batch, after the party for the second Christmas party, I used the frosting in a can with 1/2 cup white chocolate chips melted in. This resulted in easier dipping and a cleaner pop. However, I wasn’t quick enough to add sprinkles on top. Eithor way they all are delicious. I prefer this icing better!!!

  • Making the cake pops for wedding

I bought the cake pop maker to make these for my wedding. I was wondering if anyone have any tips for making these in advanced? I know you can make the cake pops and then freeze them. • How do you cool your cake pops?

I’m new to the cake pop revelation and I’m wanting to know the best way to cool the pops without smashing one side? When I take them out of the pop maker, I put them on a cooling rack and unless I roll them around they flatten out on the side they are laying on. I’d prefer an easier way because 1. they are hot! and 2. it’s a bit time consuming to stand there rolling the balls around until each batch cools.

I needed a stand to hold my pops after dipping and display at sale table. I bought the Wilton pop stand and needed more room and one a little stronger. Then glued the foam in between the boards and made feet on the bottom with the foam. I then wrapped the whole thing in foil and it looked real good and worked great. I poked holes for the sticks with an ice pick.

  • Cake Pops

Got the cake pop maker yesterday @ Bed Bath and Beyond for only 19.99 too bad I don’t have any coupons with me could have gotten it for a lesser price. I was excited to use it for the first time last night and I need to practice for my baby’s birthday next month. So I bought Duncan Hines chocolate mix, Wilton Candy Melts (on sale @ Joann for 2.24 + coupons) and sprinkles & glitter gel for decorations. I just used a squeeze bottle to fill the cavities and it was easy and mess free. Don’t over fill just leave a small space so the balls can expand, but if you do overfill and you have some “saturn like” rings its easy to remove after they cooled. What I noticed is the surface becomes to hot so my first batch was overcooked, what I did for the 2nd batch is to turn them off before putting the batter and just plug it when Im done filling them. After 4 mins they are done. I did this trick for the rest of the batter and all of them turned great. I put them in the fridge for 1 hour after that I dipped my lollipop sticks in the candy melts and stuck them in the pops be sure to put them upside down to rest as they are not yet dry. Put them back in the fridge again for 1 hour and take them out for 30 mins before dipping them in the candy. And now the decorating part, I had a hard time with the candy melts and I dont have any vegetable shortening at home to make them a little lighter. I dip the pops in the melts, make sure to fully covered the pop with the candy, and GENTLY tap the stick while turning it so the excess candy will drip. I think I tapped it 25-30 times to have an even coat after that I used a spoon to sprinkle my decorations. I used a styrofoam ( I covered them with plastic wrap so I could use it again) to hold the sticks and put them back in the fridge overnight. I checked them this morning and they tasted and looked great.

Tonight I’m planning to use the recipes for the batter from the cookbook. By the way I have a question and I hope somebody can help me, Are there any substitute for the candy melts for decorating? Thanks

  • How hot do the machines get?

Hello, I just bought the Doughnut maker and the Cake Pop maker, and am very excited about both, the only problem I found is a few of the recipies call for milk; my partner is allergic to milk unless it has been cooked until it reaches the boiling point. I noticed on several of the Youtube videos that the machines create quite a bit of live steam, but is this enough to create sufficient heat to cook the milk?

Or is it possible to use condensed milk in the recipies, and those that call for buttermilk add lemon to that instead?

Thank you for your help. this is a wonderful forum, andi am looking ofrward to spending time here.

  • A Question

I bought the cake pop maker a few weeks ago and I’m going to make some this weekend for the first time. I was wondering what kind of cake mixes actually work to make cake pops? I have read on here that bought cake mixes dont work that well in the machine but thats the way I want to try it. I just want to know if there is any certain kind that works great and what doesnt work great. Also, can you use regular cake icing for the cake pops or should I just use the recipes for coating on the cake pops? Thank you to anyone who comments on this =)

  • Having trouble with pops not rising?

So we purchased the babycakes cake pop maker to make pops as a party favor for my daughters birthday party. We started with regular Duncan Hines cake mix but the pops were flat on top. I checked out this website to see if we were doing something wrong or if there were any tips. I found two great ones that help keep things neater and helped my pops rise. First of all, we put the batter into a squeeze bottle with a very narrow tip. This made pouring very quick, and clean and much easier than pouring it in spoonful by spoonful. The second tip helped my pops rise and acutally look like a pop. We added baking powder. I think I put about 2 tablespoons in the batter and this helped them rise up into perfect balls. I hope this helps any of you having this same issue. Good luck and happy baking!

  • Practice makes perfect!

I just bought the machine a few weeks ago to make some cake pops for my daughter’s first birthday party. I decided to practive two weekends ago and I’m so glad I did. I went with a key lime cake batter and thought I could adjust the icing to make it thinner… bad idea. The cake pops were ok once I rolled them in the key lime juice but they were so heavy they started to slide down the sticks. A few batches came out lopsided until I figured out I wasn’t closing the lid completely. The icing was a complete mess.
Second try was much better. Used a strawberry Duncan Hines cake mix and a glaze from the recipe book included and they turned out so cute! I’m so glad I bought it, they taste delicious!

FYI- I also bought the wilton cake pop decorating stand- it really helped to ensure my pops were dry before popping a clear bag over them.

  • Perfect Brownie Pops from a Box

So, I thought I’d post that I just made the perfect brownie pops from a box. I used Pillsbury Chocolate Fudge Brownie Mix as it directed on the box. I cooked them for 6 minutes and then checked them with a toothpick. Turned out perfectly round and tasted great!!!! I love them as its like getting the corner piece in every bite! I am going to dip the bottoms in white chocolate and then sprinkles for a bake sale at my work tomorrow.

  • Diet Cake!

I am happy to report that the classic Weight Watchers trick to making diet cake works perfectly in the cake pop maker!

The trick is to take any box cake mix, and instead of adding oil and eggs, mix ONLY with a 12 oz can of diet soda. Suggestions for flavors — For chocolate mixes, use Diet Coke or Root Beer. For white or vanilla, use Cream Soda or Ginger Ale. For lemon or cherry cakes use Diet Cherry Seven Up or any lemon lime soda.

I was worried that they wouldn’t rise properly, but filling the cavities to the rim makes perfect ball shapes. I only had to bake each batch for 4 minutes.

The texture of the cakes may be different than a moist fatty cake, so I’m just warning you upfront if it’s the first time you are trying a Diet Cake. I’ve been making cake this way for years so I’m used to it…….I think they’re delicious!! :)

  • Donut maker

I just used some Martha White muffin mixes in my donut maker. They turned out great. I used strawberry and chocolate chip mixes. Then I sprinkled the chocolate chip with powdered sugar and put cream cheese icing on the strawberry. Yummy.

  • Pumpkin

Not a tip but a question! Anyone knowing of a good pumpkin cake recipe to us on pop maker to make pumkin cake or bread that will work well in machine or will any recipe do?

  • filling cake pops with frosting

Has anyone had experience filing the cake pops with frosting? Just wondering how I should go about the process and how this will affect the look of the cake pop once decorating?? Thanks for any suggestions provided!

  • Quiche

I tried to make to spinache and bacon quiche last night, and instead made a huge mess. Any tips on of to get the quiche’s out of the wells with out breaking them apart or leaving half of the contents in the well?

  • No mess in the wells

To avoid spilling mix on unwanted areas of the pan, reuse washed ketchup or mustard bottles. Fill the bottle with the mix using a funnel. Recycling helps the environment and saves you the hassle of the crunchy nugget clean up. (You may need to make the squeeze tip bigger).

  • Use a Batter Dispenser

I recommend using a pancake batter dispenser to fill each well… It’s super fast and easy. Because if you take too long filling the wells, the ones filled will rise over the edge before you are done filling all of them and cause a mess when you close the lid. With the batter dispenser, typically one squeeze of the handle is enough – I fill almost to the top – and you can get around to all the wells just as the first ones begin to rise. Expect a little overflow (if you fill right to the edge), but it peels away easily when you take them out. With boxed cake mix (the typical 3 eggs, 1/3-1/2 cup oil, cake mix) it’ll take about 5 to 6 minutes to rise all way to being nice and round.

  • Ms.

I bought the Donut Maker today and could not wait to try it!
So I used a box of brownie mix that I had in the cabinet, and followed the recipe for ‘cake-like’ brownies (2 eggs instead of one).
I sprayed the maker with cooking spray.
The donuts came out great!! No sticking either.
    I am so happy!!

  • Great Product!

This is a great product! It’s like the ladies George Foreman!! I like to take them out right away and cover them in chocolate, add some sprinkles and let my friend Ruthie eat them all up. Trust me, you have to eat them right away while they are still a bit warm.

  • Cherie

These little cake balls are perfect for the chocolate fountain. Just use fondue forks or BBQ skewers.

  • Decorating Cake Pops

HELP! Has anyone tried decorating the cake pops? I volunteered to make “owl” cake pops, similar to the one on Bakerella web site http://www.flickr.com/photos/amycluck/5938621148/, for my friend’s daughter’s 1st birthday. Not sure how the candy will hold up…does anyone have any tips?

I’m planning on using the red velvet recipe from the cake pop maker instruction manual. Should I make the cake denser? And does anyone know how?

Thanks for any tips you can provide!

  • can you use cake mix for the donut maker???

I want to make cake donuts for my sons birthday but will cake mix work for the donut maker???

  • New Mommy

One tip to easily and cleanly fill each well without making a mess: I used the flavor injector syringe that came with the set to pull up my batter (I happened to use Duncan Hines chocolate mix) and inject it into each well–SOOO much easier/quicker/cleaner than spooning it in.

The cakes are a little flatter and definately fluffier using the mix than preparing from scratch (I made them from scratch yesterday and they were perfect balls and more ‘donut’ tasting than the ones from the mix). I leared that if you cook them a little longer, like 8 or 9 minutes with the mix rather than 4 mins with from scratch batter, they will come closer to being round, and they aren’t burning ( so far ).

  • PANCAKE DONUTS

I got the donut maker yesterday and no fixings. I desperately wanted to play with it. So I decided to try to make pancake donuts. Success.

I use instant mix. I would suggest adding vanilla extract to it, more than you usually would for a traditional pancake. Or use a muffin mix like the Jiffy Apple Cinnamon. I use that for pancakes as well… Fill the wells about 90% full… I used a spoon, but next time will use a bag just because the spoon is time consuming. Cook about two minutes, then flip each one over.

Pancakes cool really quickly so you should probably pop into the microwave for about 20-30 seconds. Then just serve with a little bowl of maple syrup. Makes a fun snack.

  • cake mix??

ok so i tried using cake mix yesterday in the cake pop maker. i made sure to use exactly a tablespoon of mix in each little hole and it made such a mess it was crazy! the cake mix was just pouring out from the sides of the cake pop maker and i just kept wiping it off for the 4 or 5 minutes and the cake pops were only like the bottom half when they were done. but they were so much better than the recipe that came with it! so do you have to change the recipe when you use cake mix? ive heard you cant use jiffy cake mix so i used duncan hines and well it was just bad. anyone with the same problem? anyone tried pound cake mix? what are good brands of cake mix that do work? [chocolate and vanilla/yellow please!]

    thanks :)

  • I love my babycakes maker

First time I tried to use my baby cakes it worked awesome.

    my tips:

Use an oil spray like Pam spray this makes the cake pops come out clean. It actually says that in the directions so I was glad I just happend to read over it.

For the most part I got perfect balls every time. of corse there was a little slip up here and there.

using cake mix from a box works just as good as the recipes.

using chocolate to dip them in not only settles great, but tastes great with the cake.

  • Storing Cake Pops

    Tips:

I have tried making yellow and chocolate cake from cake mixes, and while they turned out great, they were not perfectly round as the batter was too thin.

I am now trying the recipes that came with the machine, and have made both the maraschino cherry ones (doubled the recipe since I couldn’t find a 9 oz. box of white cake mix using the cake mix directions except for the cherry juice part) and red velvet. Both were perfectly round and amazing. I did have a somewhat difficult time with the white chocolate glaze as it seemed to need reheating after 2 dips.

    Questions:

Does anyone know how long you can store cake pops, and where the best place to store them would be? I have kept mine in the fridge for up to 5 days and they were ok, but I feel like they dried out a little. One of my girlfriends that bakes says not to put cake in the fridge at all as it dries the cake out, but I’m worried if I leave it at room temperature that the frosting will become too soft.

Also, has anyone made cake pops ahead of time, frozen them, and then took them out at a later date to bring to a get together? Just curious.

    Thanks!

  • Making a denser ball…

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to make the balls denser? I’m looking for the consistency that you would find if you were to hand roll the balls with icing. I just used my cake pop maker for the first time today, and while the balls came out perfect, they’re still a very light, airy ball (I used a cake mix). any thoughts?

  • baker

How long do they keep at room temp? Can they be refrigerated? Frozen? How about thawing them—any tips???

  • Success! Round Cake Pops!

I was excited to use my Cake Pop Maker when I got it. I had planned on making cake pops for my daughters first birthday. I attempted a batch and was pretty disappointed that the pops weren’t round, I used a box mix, don’t remember which brand but it wasn’t Jiffy. The mix was kinda watery and it was just yellow cake mix. After cooking, they were either flat or slightly rounded on top but not a ball. I gave up for the day, decorated and ate them.

Second go round I tried an angel food cake hoping it would “rise” a bit better. Big mistake. DO NOT USE ANGEL FOOD CAKE, lol. It was sticky and just didn’t work at all. That was a Betty Crocker mix. I didn’t want to give up this time so I tried the Lemon Cake Pop recipe from this site. I really dislike making things from scratch so this was a pretty big deal for me. I did not have an actual lemon for the zest or lemon extract so I left those two ingredients out. Everything else was included though. I even set my timer when mixing so I made sure to follow the directions exactly. I used a frosting bag to fill the wells on the Cake Pop Maker. The batter was much thicker than either boxed mix I had used previously, but I just went with it. I also made sure to use the lock on the Maker. On my first attempt I had totally forgotten about the lock. To my pleasant surprise when I opened the lid after 4 minutes my little cakes were round! I almost jumped for joy. I made another dozen and decorated with candy melts. Next weekend is the birthday party and I have every confidence that our Cake Pops will be a hit!

  • Need help! Stiking, liner question!

Are you supposed to use liners or just pour batter in the well of the cupcake maker? I had an awful expierence with mine sticking and leaving a ton of crumbs :( Mine is boxed up and ready to be returned, any tips or tricks would be appreciated!

  • Cleaning Cake Pop Maker

In making savory appetizers I found that, yes, it is non stick but sometimes leaves a crusty residue behind in the wells. Simply add about 1/2 tsp of water to each of the wells in a preheated machine and close lid for about 15-30 seconds. The water boils and steams each of the wells. Heads up, it does bubble out onto the counter a bit. Lift lid and let cool to warm and dump out any excess water and wipe with a damp cloth. All comes off with ease.

  • Hollow

I just baked a batch of vanilla buttermilk cupcakes from scratch and they came out hollow and undone in the middle, but toothpicks came out clean. Has this happened to anyone else?

  • Cupcakes

Question Anybody?? Do the cupcakes always stick to the cupcake liner? I made one batch of banana bread muffins and mine did and was wondering if thats what everyones experiencing.
    Thanks

  • lopsided cake pops

Ok so I tried this out, and for some reason all my cake pops were lopsided, like the top half didn’t fit on the bottom half. Did anyone else have this problem and how do I solve it, OR is my machine defective?

  • BROWNIES??

CAN U BAKE BROWNIES IN THE CAKE POP MAKER?

  • lollipop helpP

I made the pops and and inserted the lollipop sticks (after the pops had cooled off a bit) but when it came time to decorate them they all slid down the lollipop stick. We ended up eating them like munckins instead. Does anyone have any tips or ideas on making them stay on the lollipop stick? I would love to make a big batch for my daughters upcoming birthday and would really appreciate any help! Thanks!

  • :)

Can you use a box cake mix to make cake pops?

BABYCAKES – Absolutely! You will find that most flavors/brands work great, although there are a few that don’t work as well. So just try it and you will be pleased!

  • Paper baking cups

Does anyone know of a source for the paper baking cups used in the mini cupcake maker besides ordering them on this site? They only come in plain white here, and the machine does not fit the standard or the mini size paper baking cups available in many colors and designs everywhere else. Are you stuck ordering plain white ones from this site? Thanks.

  • Ebelskivers

A lot of our fans have asked if any BABYCAKES products could be used to bake Ebelskivers, a type of Danish pancake.

Well . . . the BABYCAKES cake pop maker works perfectly.  They bake quick (3 to 4 minutes).  You can use the convenient fork tool to turn them during the cooking if you like, but you don’t have to turn as frequently as when cooking them in a pan.  Lightly brush the wells with melted butter or spray with non-stick.  If you don’t use non-stick, these delicate pastries could stick in the reservoirs.  Don’t fill the reservoirs with oil or butter.

Ebelskivers are traditionally served with jam or preserve – try drizzling them with syrup.

Check out the Ebelskiver recipe under Cake Pop Maker.

  • Cupcake maker cooking time

I noticed that the first batch takes just a minute or two longer, even when the cupcake maker is pre-heated. Keep this in mind and shorten the cooking time, or at least check them a minute or two earlier after the first batch.

  • Ms.

I just wanted to share that the cupcake liners sold here are absolutely wonderful … and much better than any others I have tried. Not only are they the perfect size for the cupcake maker they also keep the cupcakes fresher and moister for a longer period of time than if you bake without them. And they are unbleached which is another plus that I really like about them.

  • For extra sweetness

For extra sweetness add a tablespoon of Lyle’s Golden Syrup.

Baking Tips

  • Baked cake pops and donut holes will be darker on the bottom half when compared to the top half. This is a result of the batter rising. The bottom halves of the cake pops and donut holes are in closer contact to the cooking plates compared to the upper halves.

  • The BABYCAKES Whoopie Pie Maker only needs about 1 tablespoon of batter per cooking reservoir.

  • Whoopie pies bake fast (about 2 to 2½ minutes) so try using a kitchen timer.

  • Form pie crusts into a room temperature BABYCAKES appliance. This allows the crust to properly form without tearing or stretching in a heated cooking reservoir. If preparing more than 1 batch of a recipe with pie crusts, allow BABYCAKES to cool for 5 minute between batches.

  • When baking recipes using pie crusts, allow refrigerated crusts to soften or come to room temperature before rolling, cutting or baking.

  • When baking mini cheesecakes and brownie bites in the BABYCAKES cupcake maker it is necessary to use paper baking cups.

  • To determine whether cupcakes are done, insert a toothpick into the center of the cupcake; if it comes out clean the cupcakes are done.

  • For fun confetti party cupcakes, stir in confetti sprinkles with cupcake mixes before baking.

  • One of the easiest ways to quickly and precisely fill the cooking reservoirs in the BABYCAKES products is with a plastic zip-top bag. Fill the bag with batter and cut off a corner of the bag. Squeeze gently to push batter from the clipped corner of the bag.

Decorating Tips

  • Place decorated cake pops in the freezer for 5 minutes to help set the coating.

  • Dip cake pops in the coating or glaze once and hold over the bowl to allow excess to drip back into the bowl. Work gently so cakes do not break apart or shake off the stick. Repeat dipping will cause the coating to become thick and heavy.

  • To help keep the cake pop on the paper lollipop stick, dip ½” to 1” of the stick in the melted candy melts and then insert it into a chilled cake pop.

  • For best results in decorating cake pops, after they have cooled place them in the freezer for 15 minutes or until well chilled. After chilling, dip them quickly in the warm coating or glaze.

  • When making a large amount of cake pops, use a foam block covered with foil to hold the extras.

  • If coating donuts with powdered sugar or cinnamon-sugar, coat the donuts while they are still hot.

  • Be creative when decorating cupcakes. For example, line 16 cupcakes, all frosted in pink, in a wavy line to resemble a caterpillar. Use small strips of licorice as legs and antenna. Add small candy eyes.

  • Use a piping bag to decorate cupcakes. Or use a disposable pastry bag or plastic zip-top bag with the corner clipped.

Other Fun Tips

  • Try making ice cream sandwiches from whoopie pies. Instead of the fillings, sandwich softened ice cream between the cooled whoopie pie halves. Wrap tightly in plastic wrap and freeze.

  • For a different taste, split cupcakes or muffins horizontally and fill with frosting, jam, preserves, lemon curd or cream cheese.
