It sounds like some people got donut makers that have a defect. They should return them for a new one. We just got ours for Christmas and my sons cooked both the choc. donuts and the buttermilk ones and they cooked on the top as well as the bottom. It says to cook it 3 min. it was at least 4 on the first batch, they were still soft on the inside (we used the tester). I do wish it did have a light to let us know when to take them out. Now looking on line to see if there are any reciepes, or if we could just use box cake mix from the store. Does anyone know ?
My kids just love this, I am happy these are much healthier then fried donuts!

Donuts look half cooked unless you frost them
False advertising. The donuts must have been placed upside down for picture on box as I have yet to get a completely "brown" donut. Otherwise it is great! Same ingredients I used for my rollout dough. If you fill it too full, they don't reach top to brown, just spill over. I thought I would find some tips for browning top. Maybe cook 2 minutes and turn them??

I received the doughnut maker as a gift and LOVE it. It provides quick and easy treats. I had a sleep over for some high school girls and they were a hit. The Chocolate Doughnut Mix is so tasty. Excellent gift idea for all of your baking friends.
